Ian Bell 137 Run out Sledges Dhoni & reverse Deciosion - Eng VS Ind 2nd Test video

Latest update: India have recalled Bell. The decision has been overturned. This move is going to go a long way in ensuring things don't boil over.

Stupendous gesture from Dhoni, assuming Praveen or the other fielders did not signal that was four.

This is Nitin Sundar to bring you the final session. Bell's dismissal gives India an opening, but I wonder if they can lift their spirits to have a real go at the lower middle order. Boos from the crowd as the umpires and players come out. Ravi Shastri says he has no issues with that dismissal.

Ok, so we have all the angles on run-out-gate out there. I suspect we are going to hear a lot about this in the coming days, and this series, funnily for no fault of the players, is taking on a little extra heat off the field. Here's hoping things don't boil over!

Clarification: Rauf handed the jumper over to Ishant after the bails were taken off, not before. Opinions flying thick and fast on commentary feedback. Was that sporting from Dhoni? Or was it within his rights? Was it plain lazy from Bell? Or did someone signal it was a boundary to him?

Narayan: "You have got to be kidding me. See the video everyone who is talking abt Dhoni's sportsmanship before talking. Morgan clearly signals wait by raising his hand to Bell but bell keeps running. The ball is still in play. i dont understand why Dhoni is being totured here."

Kamal: "Everyone remembers what Strauss did to Smith and What colly did against kiwis. No idea how come spirit of the game should be applied only to India."
Kuldeep: "This isn't good for cricket lovers... It would be so good if Dhoni calls off his appeal and get Bell on the field!"

Anurag: "I'm DESPERATE for India to win this match, but that's just cheating! Bad Karma always shows up; I'm scared!"

Robbie: "India's attitude in the field there - from Kumar's return to the taking off of the bails, suggested a four. Are we seeing football-style 'simulation' entering the game?"

Sharma to Morgan, 3 runs, 132.7 kph, oh dear, what's going on here? Morgan flicked it to deep square, where Praveen made a comical attempt at saving the ball, it looked funny but he actually did cut it off. The fielder thought it was four but it wasn't, the England batsmen thought it was four and by the time the throw came back in the batsmen were out their crease thinking it was tea.

Off came the bails and now India are appealing for a run out! It could be out, should be even? That's pretty careless of the batsmen but had the umpires called tea? This Test has had everything, what can the umpires do here? OUT and it's Bell that has gone too. Should India have appealed there? It's a little bit like when New Zealand ran out Murali after Sangakkara made a century but it was careless from Bell. That said, as Bell walk off he's insisted that "he called over".

Was over called? Rauf handed back Ishant's jumper after the bails were taken off so it's very possible he did. Update: Alan Wilkins says that on the way back, the umpires asked Dhoni is he wanted to withdraw the appeal retrospectively, but Dhoni said No. The decision stays - a more bizarre dismissal you will never see. Latest update, post tea: India have recalled Bell. The decision has been overturned. The crowd stops booing and starts cheering! MS Dhoni has suddenly become a hero.

Another update, reportedly from Jonathan Aggers on TMS: Strauss and Flower went to the Indian dressing room at tea and asked Dhoni if he would withdraw the appeal. And Dhoni consented. The umpires did not have a part to play in it. Apparently, MSD asked for some time to make the decision, consulted with his team and decided to reverse the call.

Tea That is a dramatic end to the session and a bizarre way for Bell to go. He played stunningly well but his dismissal has just altered the shape of the game again. The pitch is flattening out and India would be comfortable chasing plenty. That wicket might just have brought them back into it.
