Just got back from Taylor County (Abilene), Texas
Just put about 1000 miles on my new Saab, and drove to and from Abilene, Texas from Monday to now. Had an auto accident trial in Taylor County District Court in front of the Honorable Lee Hamilton in the 104th. Nice fellow, fair judge. No complaints -- except I lost.
Well, we won on liability, but the tough west Texas jurors just wouldn't buy that my client was hurt. Good trial, 2.5 days, with reasonable evidentiary rulings. Would have been nice to have won, but it was good experience in front of a hostile crowd. An away game, if you will.
We'll get 'em next time.
Great to be home to see the family. Missed Joey's first baseball game of the preseason, but I heard he made a nice play for an out at 2B and drove in at least one run -- and it was a one run game, so, naturally, it was the winning run.
I am going to the HCDP Texas Two Step fundraiser on Saturday night. You can find out more about it at the Harris County Democratic Party website.
Tell me what you thought about that fundraiser, and tell me your west Texas trial stories.
Mike
