I get the Call! Tomorrow I Become a Judge!
I have received the Order from the government. I have gotten the call. The Writ has come through. Tomrrow, I will be a judge. It's all very exciting. I thank you all for your help. I could not have done it without you. I am to be vested, as of 7:00 a.m. tomorrow, with the powers of a district judge.
"What?", you say? I thought your election was a year away! "Have you, a Democrat, been appointed by Governor Perry?"
Yes, sure, that's exactly what happened. No, it's nothing like that.
Instead, tomorrow, I will do my duty as a Presiding Election Judge. I will oversee the integrity of the elections taking place tomorrow, November 6, 2007 so that the person with the most votes will win. Our continuing democracy depends upon public confidence in free and fair elections, and that is why I will do my very small part tomorrow.
I am to be stationed at the Jane Long Middle School at 6501 Bellaire Boulevard. I'll be there all day. Come say hi and bring snax and drinks. I'll even let you sit in the driver's seat of the engelhart4judge.com 2008 green hybrid if it's not too busy.
Best,
Mike
